Activities

At present, in pursuit of those key objectives defined in the APMP Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the Members collaborate in APMP, under an effective coordination of currently established executive bodies including the Executive Committee (EC), the Secretariat, the Technical Committee and the ad-hoc Working Groups, and the Developing Economies’ Committee, to promote the sustainable development of metrology in the region through the following activities.

1) Implementation of the CIPM Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) in the region through:

• effective liaison with BIPM, CIPM and representation at JCRB meetings;
• TC Chairs’ participation in the CIPM Consultative Committee Working Groups;
• promoting member laboratories’ participation in CIPM comparisons and organizing APMP comparisons;
• conducting intra-and-inter-regional review of CMC claims;
• effective review and monitoring of quality system of member laboratories in support of their CMC claims;
• Annual TC Chairs meeting and EC-TC Chairs joint meeting to work on MRA related issues;

2) Supporting member economies in establishing or improving metrological capabilities through:

• transferring expertise in metrological fields between Members through conferences, seminars, workshops, training programs, consultancies and technical publications;
• fostering information exchange and sharing among Members and facilitating collaboration among interested Members on specific projects;
• Encourage participation in CIPM comparisons and initiating regional comparisons of measurement standards in order to gain international recognition of measurement capabilities of Member laboratories;
• giving special attention to the needs of less developed Members and initiate, develop and implement activities to assist them in achieving metrological capability in specific activities;
• Implementing other resolutions and actions as decided by the APMP General Assembly.

3) Establishing and maintaining effective links with other Stakeholder Organizations (SOs) mainly including RMOs and SRBs through:

• a timely exchange of information on activities and matters of common interest;
• a annual review and prioritization of SOs and mutual representation in each other’s meetings and activities;
• continuous efforts towards establishing a cooperative framework (MoU) with SOs of most relevance for the benefits of APMP;
• supporting APEC SRB Forum and joint efforts with other SRBs to facilitate the development and implementation of standards and conformance infrastructures in each APEC member economy

4) Maintain an effective and efficient operation of APMP through:

• organizing annual General Assembly, EC meeting, TC meetings, DEC meeting, Workshops, and related activities;
• support of Members via membership fee and an effective and transparent financial management;
• time maintenance and improvement of APMP website and publication of APMP newsletters.
