FRAMEWORK FOR APMP DEVELOPING ECONOMIES' COMMITTEE
   
The framework for operation of the APMP DEC was reviewed at the 12th DEC Meeting in July 2006. The revised framework document will be posted here on confirmation by the APMP General Assembly in December 2006. The following details are intended to provide a general overview.

CREATION:

The APMP Developing Economies' Committee (DEC) was established during the 16th APMP General Assembly and meetings in 2000 in Thailand.

OBJECTIVE:

DEC's principal objective is to help address the needs of APMP member National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) from developing economies, and to oversee and coordinate associated work programs.

MEMBERSHIP:

The APMP DEC shall comprise at least five and no more than seven representatives from APMP member laboratories. At least three Committee Members will be from Developing Economy NMIs, and at least one from a developed economy NMI.
The DEC shall have a Chairman with a three-year term of office. The Chairman shall be from a Full Member NMI.
DEC members may nominate a Deputy-Chair to represent the Chairman where required.

DEC meetings are open to representatives from all APMP member laboratories but in particular from Developing Economy NMIs, except wherein a close session (limited to DEC members and invited guests) is deemed necessary.
