UzNIM, engaged with international and foreign metrology institutes
Nowadays, special attention is paid to the further development of cooperation with international and foreign metrology institutes in order to achieve international recognition of the results of measurements carried out and to improve the quality of the provided metrological services in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek National Institute of Metrology (UzNIM) was reorganized in 2018 and is considered one of the young institutes. During the past year 2023, the following works were carried out in the UzNIM:
In March, the 34th meeting of TC 3.1 “Quality Forum Technical Committees” of COOMET was held in the UzNIM and on the basis of the ISO/IEC 17025 international standard the quality management system implemented at the UzNIM was positively evaluated.
In October, within the framework of the project “Strengthening the quality infrastructure in the countries of Central Asia” in cooperation with the German National Metrology Institute (PTB) a regional seminar was held for first time in the Fergana branch of the UzNIM.
In October, director of the Uzbek National Institute of Metrology was elected as the vice president of COOMET for “Cooperation in the field of legal metrology”.
In October-November, 3 technical committee meetings of COOMET (TC 1.7 “Photometry and Radiometry”, TC 2 “Legal Metrology”, TC 4 “Information and Training”) were held in the UzNIM.

In November, Time and Frequency Standard was launched at the UzNIM. This service not only transmits accurate time signals within the country, but are also important in the formation of Coordinated Universal Time of Uzbekistan (UTC UZ) as a member of the International Atomic Time (TAI) group of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM).

The UzNIM is participating in a number of comparison projects with the following regional metrological organizations: GULFMET – 5, APMP – 3, COOMET – 7, EURAMET – 2 projects.
