APMP EEFG held a Workshop "Measurement for Sustainable Energy"
The APMP Energy Efficiency Focus Group, in collaboration with the DEC FG Task Force and National Institute of Metrology Thailand, conducted a two-day workshop from 30 August to 1 September 2023. The theme of workshop was “Measurement for Sustainable Energy” and also organized in conjunction with the ASEAN SUSTAINABLE ENERGY WEEK (asew-expo.com), ASEAN’s largest renewable energy technology and energy efficiency exhibition and conference, which is attended by key industry and government stakeholders. The workshop promoted dialogue, cooperation, and strategic planning on energy including visiting a NIMT Energy related Laboratory. It was also a learning opportunity for six APMP developing NMIs as well as a road map outlining energy stakeholder strategies for the participants has been developed.
DAY 1, THURSDAY 31 AUGUST 2023, AT QUEEN SIRIKIT NATIONAL CONVENTION CENTER
In the morning, APMP and DEC participants could explore and improve their understanding of present and emerging measurement needs in the energy sector via in-person attendance at the ASEW exhibition and key sessions of the ASEW Conference. ASEAN SUSTAINABLE ENERGY WEEK 2023 (ASEW) is the 33rd year of the most comprehensive and largest energy and environment technologies show. This year ASEW continued to join forces from all sectors to respond to the important changes in the industrial sector such as energy transition and reducing greenhouse gas emissions to Net Zero.
In the afternoon, APMP participants, along with 123 external participants (87 Online and 36 Onsite) from government, industry and academia took part in the EEFG Seminar. The presentation topics covered by the workshop included “Measurement for Sustainable energy” by the vice president of Gunkul Engineering Public Company Limited and APEC Expert Group on New and Renewable Energy Technologies (EGNRET) including five energy topics from three NMIs in APMP, EURAMET and a university. The presentations covered measurement support for electric vehicle charging stations, measurement needs for PV and batteries, European metrology network on smart grids, hydrogen fueling measurements for the hydrogen station in Korea and future temperature measurements for sustainable energy.
DAY 2, FRIDAY 1 SEPTEMPBER 2023, VISITING GULF, AYUTTHAYA & WORKSHOP PART 2 AT NIMT, PATHUMTHANI
During Day 2 of the Workshop part II, APMP/DEC Participants visited GULF, UTHAI Power Plant, Ayutthaya. The visit provided metrologists form APMP/DEC and NIMT an in-depth overview of Gulf Group’s businesses and an outlook on energy industry in Thailand. There was a productive discussion and knowledge exchange.
