Scope of technical fields

• Provides independent and impartial forensic science services (narcotics, toxicology, forensic DNA, criminalistics and document examination) to both government agencies and to the private sector.
• Provides scientific services for the safeguarding of public health in terms of food and drinking water safety as well as for the protection and conservation of the environment.
• Provides analytical services and consultations to various government agencies in order to support law enforcement, protect government revenue, safeguard consumer interest and ensure safety of workers.
• Organising a Proficiency Testing Program covering 12 testing scopes for chemical/ forensic laboratories within Malaysia and international laboratories.
• Produces reference materials for amount of substance: high-purity chemicals for organic compounds; food for preservatives and alcoholic beverages.
• Undertaking research in method development using high end instrumentation, planning and coordinating all laboratory quality assurance activities under ISO/IEC 17025 standard.
